Hi Laura,
Thank you for the ping! I don't get many, so it was a pleasant surprise. Cheer up, if you're getting a lot of flack for expressing your views, it probably means that you are doing something right. Jesus told his disciples that the world would hate them for espousing the Gospel just like it hated Him. I get flack all the time. Tolerance is a god on Gather and if you challenge the big T - look out.
Keep walking with the Lord, keep praying and reading His Word. These are the means of grace and here the Holy Spirit can minister to you and strengthen you in the faith. Think long about the cross and what was accomplished there for you and then when you are feeling uncomfortable or persecuted for your views, remember what Christ endured for you. This is difficult to do for anyone, but try not to worry about what other people think about you. Somebody told me once that if someone decides they're not going to like you, they will search and search until they find a reason to justify their view - maybe the way you dress or the color of your skin or the friends you hang out with - they'll find something. That being said, why not give them a good reason to dislike you - tell them about the Gospel, tell them about Jesus!
You've done something good here too - by pinging me. If you can confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead then you are most certainly saved and also a sister of mine! Stay in touch with other believers - like logs in a fire, they burn hotter together than when pulled apart and left to themselves. They can pray for each other and where two or more gather in His name, there He will be also!

I believe that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I don't know how this election thing will come out but I declared my support for fellow Chicagoan, Barack Obama. I suspect that deep down , you're an Obama supporter too! LOL
